Family Medicine and Integrative Psychiatry — Dr. Dipali A. Desai Treats the Whole Person, Body and Mind

CLEVELAND, Ohio. Dr. Dipali A. Desai has a simple way of describing how she practices: she treats her patients like family. In practice that means looking past a single symptom or lab result and asking how a person is really doing, physically and emotionally.

Dr. Desai is a family physician who cares for adult and older patients in both hospital and office settings. Much of her work involves chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and congestive heart failure, along with routine physicals and preventive visits that help patients stay ahead of problems.

What sets her approach apart is her training in integrative psychiatry. Dr. Desai is certified by the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, and she brings mental health into everyday primary care rather than treating it as a separate concern. For many patients, managing stress, mood and sleep is closely tied to managing blood sugar or blood pressure, and she addresses both together with the goal of better long term health and a better quality of life.

She earned her medical degree from Government Medical College, Surat, part of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University in India. She then completed her residency in family medicine at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

Dr. Desai stays active in a wide professional community. She belongs to the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health, the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, the American Indian Physicians of Northeast Ohio and Hindu Physicians International. She is also involved with the Integrated Center for Group Medical Visits.

Her care has earned steady recognition. She was named to America's Best in Medicine for 2026, recognized as one of America's Best Doctors and a Top Family Practitioner in 2025, and received a Women of Distinction honor in 2024. In 2026 she was also recognized as an Excellence Family Physician.

She credits her mentor, Dr. Pravin Kumar C. Desai, with much of her guidance, and she draws strength from her family, including her mother, Minaxi, and the memory of her father, Arunkumar. Away from medicine she loves music, singing, dancing and the art of henna, and her favorite place to unwind is Maui.

Dynamo Times recognizes Dr. Dipali A. Desai for practicing medicine that treats every patient as a whole person.
