Graham H. Davis Recognized for Continued Leadership in Construction Education and Building Science

COLORADO — The Dynamo Times highlights Graham H. Davis for a distinguished career spanning more than three decades in residential construction, building science, quality assurance and professional education.

Davis is a senior building performance specialist at IBACOS, a Pittsburgh-based organization that works with production home builders across the United States to improve construction quality, energy efficiency and building performance. His work at IBACOS includes conducting building performance seminars, leading training sessions and performing on-site home evaluations designed to identify successful construction practices and opportunities for improvement.

Over the course of his career, Davis estimates that he has completed thousands of home walkthroughs — a body of firsthand experience that has given him extensive insight into the practical realities of residential construction quality and building performance across different markets, climates and construction methods.

Davis's involvement in building science developed significantly during his years with Habitat for Humanity International. From 1996 to 2003, he worked with the organization and became deeply involved in efforts to integrate building-science principles into residential construction. His work ultimately led to a national leadership role as a senior technical advisor and Green Team manager.

In that capacity, Davis traveled extensively, educating Habitat for Humanity affiliates and presenting construction best practices at conferences and training programs across the country. His efforts helped numerous affiliates participate in programs including Building America and ENERGY STAR — initiatives supporting the broader movement toward homes offering greater durability, energy efficiency, affordability and healthier living environments.

Davis later continued his construction education and quality-assurance work through positions with Quality Built and John Laing Homes. From 2005 to 2008, he served as quality assurance manager at John Laing Homes, overseeing construction quality-control processes. He subsequently joined IBACOS in 2009 as a building performance specialist and has remained with the organization since, advancing to his current role as senior building performance specialist.

Davis has also served on the board of directors of the Energy & Environmental Building Alliance, further contributing to industry education and the advancement of high-performance residential construction. His career has centered on an important principle: improving construction requires more than identifying problems. Builders must understand why certain practices work and how those lessons can be applied consistently in the field.

In 2025, Davis was named to Pro Builder magazine's Young Guns & Legends Class of 2025, recognizing his contributions to the home-building industry. The recognition reflects decades of practical experience, education and advocacy for improved residential construction standards.

Davis maintains a longstanding connection with Habitat for Humanity and has participated in Global Village projects internationally, including volunteer work in England, Romania and Fiji. Those experiences reinforced the philosophy that has guided much of his career: quality housing should be durable, efficient and accessible to families.

As he continues his career, Davis remains focused on sharing his knowledge with builders through seminars, conferences, field training and consulting. For Davis, building science is not simply a technical discipline — it is an ongoing educational process capable of improving the quality, affordability and performance of homes throughout America.
