Jacob "Jay" Adoni Puts Five Decades of New York Business Online With the Launch of JayAdoni.com
The new site gathers the companies, brands and buildings behind the founder of LJ Simone and PLV Studio, from his first jobs after arriving from Israel to the Brooklyn shoe factory where he works today.

NEW YORK. For most of his career Jacob "Jay" Adoni let his companies do the talking. Now the founder of LJ Simone and PLV Studio has a home of his own online: jayadoni.com, a site that walks visitors through nearly fifty years of building businesses in New York.
The story starts in 1976, when a 17 year old arrived from Israel with very little English and took whatever work he could find, from busing tables and cooking to painting, warehouse work and shipping boxes for a shoe factory.
From there the chapters follow LJ Simone, the handbag and shoe label he started at 19, and its sale to Pentland Brands in 1993, after which he led Pentland USA as President. According to a 2011 WWD report, it was at LJ Simone that he hired a young Steve Madden as a sales rep. WWD later named him among Madden's early mentors. Its 2019 Hall of Fame profile of Steve Madden reads: "Among his early mentors were footwear execs Jay Adoni and Lance Rubin of L.J. Simone, one of the top shoe brands of the 1980s." Rubin was his partner at LJ Simone.
Other sections cover his commercial real estate projects on Long Island, PLV Studio with its Pour La Victoire and Kelsi Dagger labels, and Modern Vice, the family brand known for shoes made in New York City.
Today he works in his shoe factory in Brooklyn and runs a rare coin business. He built the original Brooklyn factory, his sons later relaunched the brand as Modern Vice, and he works there and consults for it.
Visitors will find a year by year timeline, a photo gallery and a contact page for business and press enquiries at jayadoni.com.
