National Medical Center Names Dr. Amara Osei Chief of Cardiology
Renowned cardiologist brings 20 years of clinical and research excellence to the nation's leading cardiac program
WASHINGTON, D.C. — National Medical Center today announced the appointment of Dr. Amara Osei, MD, FACC, as Chief of Cardiology, effective September 1, 2026.
"Dr. Osei is one of the most respected cardiologists in the country," said National Medical Center President and CEO Dr. William Foster. "Her groundbreaking research in preventive cardiology and her commitment to health equity make her the ideal leader for our cardiac program."
Dr. Osei joins National Medical Center from Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she served as Director of Preventive Cardiology for the past eight years. She has published over 120 peer-reviewed articles and holds three patents for cardiac diagnostic technologies.
"I am honored to join the extraordinary team at National Medical Center," said Dr. Osei. "Our goal is to make world-class cardiac care accessible to every patient, regardless of their background or circumstances."
Dr. Osei received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed her cardiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Heart Association.
